4 reasons your leather jacket is the jacket for all seasons
A leather jacket is the ideal jacket to wear throughout the year; there is no right time or wrong time to don your favourite item of apparel and look effortlessly stylish.
However, if you aren’t sure if your leather jacket is right for Spring or Autumn, here are 4 reasons why your leather jacket is the jacket for all seasons.
Spring
1. Leather jackets are great for layering.
There are very few items of clothing that make you look fashionable all year round, and especially not when the weather is so changeable, as it is wont to do in a UK Spring.
The days are getting longer again (hurrah), the air temperature is finally warming up (hurrah), but occasionally we get blasted with snow and ice and it feels like we are back in the depths of Winter again.
The best Spring leather jackets include a cropped leather jacket, a quilted leather jacket or a traditional biker leather jacket, as none of these are too heavy and can be worn over a sweater or knitwear if required.
A leather jacket is incredibly versatile and can be thrown together with heels or combat boots, both work.
Summer
2. Leather jackets work in the heat.
One of the biggest misconceptions around leather jackets is that they are only suitable for wearing in the Autumn or the Winter, because they are better suited to colder climes and pairing with thick cosy jumpers.
That is not the case at all.
A leather jacket will not make you hot and sweaty, as long as you choose your leather jacket wisely.
Opt for a leather jacket in the Summer that doesn’t have any extra lining. Forgo the quilted jackets and pick the one that is thin and can breathe. Leather is a skin after all.
And remember you can switch out your office blazer for a leather jacket, so not only will it take your seamlessly from day wear to evening wear, but you will also be prepared for when your colleagues decide to crank the AC up to counter the heat outside.
Autumn
3. Leather jackets were created for blustery days.
Leather jackets are incredibly well suited to Autumn wear because this is when we tend to dig out our chunkier knits, and nothing looks quite as good as an oversized roll neck jumper peeking out from underneath a leather jacket.
Leather jackets work well in colder weather, transitioning flawlessly from inside to going out. A classic biker jacket pairs perfectly with a big grey scarf, thin burgundy jumper, skinny black jeans and boots.
In fact classic biker jackets just work with everything - from classic skinny jeans and tshirts to jumper dresses and evening gowns. There is nothing that a leather jacket worn in Autumn won’t go with.
Winter
4. Leather jackets keep out the cold.
Well, leather jackets themselves don’t keep out the cold, they are after all just a skin. But if you line your leather jacket with insulating layers, then the leather jacket itself will block the wind and the chill and the layers worn beneath it will keep you toasty warm.
During the Winter months the best leather jackets are the ones that are lined. Quilted leather jackets are great because they naturally provide more insulation and cosiness than a thin biker jacket, but the best are shearling lined leather jackets. Naturally warm due to their lambskin lining, you will stay warm and stylish all winter long.
